Why is an atheist society necessary?
MATT is not a philosophy club, but an advocacy organization, which means that, in addition to being atheist, it defines a number of values that guide its activities. These values are laid down in its Articles of Association, which state the following: The purpose of the association is to organize an atheist community and to promote atheist philosophy and secular values. To promote rational, critical thinking based on scientifically proven facts. To protect universal human values, secular ethics, and the interests of those who profess them.

In recent decades, atheism has become a dirty word in Hungary due to irresponsible statements made by powerful and influential figures in politics. Due to the atheist community’s previous lack of organization, atheist ideas and ideals could not be communicated as effectively as those of their critics, who were supported by billions of tax dollars. By becoming organized, we want to change this and reduce the above inequalities. You can support our work with a donation at the link below. Unfortunately, we have no chance of receiving state support, even though there are more citizens who identify as atheists in Hungary than those who identify as religious.
